Wohaib Club crowned Lahore Weightlifting champs

LAHORE: The Wohaib Weightlifting Club clinched the overall title at the two-day Lahore District Weightlifting Championship, hosted at ART Club, Ali Park.

Wohaib Club finished on top with 85 points while A.R.T Club ended second with 70 points as Hajvery Club claimed third place with 46 points.

The championship featured strong participation, with 57 men and 18 women athletes competing across multiple weight categories. A special tribute was paid to the late Muhammad Shafiq, South Asian Games champion and 11-time national record holder, in recognition of his immense contributions to the sport.

Standout performances: 71kg: Mujahid (Wohaib Club) – Gold, 237kg total lift

88kg: Essa Adam – Gold, 260kg total lift

110+kg: Muhammad Ahmed Butt (Wohaib Club) – Gold, 261kg total lift.

Other gold medalists: Hub Ali (79kg), Qasim (94kg), Muhammad Ali (110kg).
