Pak Navy rescues ship’s crew in north Arabian Sea

ISLAMABAD: In a swift humanitarian operation, Pakistan Navy has successfully rescued and evacuated 18 crew members of a merchant vessel (MV), including the nationals of China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia in north Arabian Sea.

The operation was conducted following a distress call from MV Gold Autumn, operating in North Arabian Sea at 200 nautical miles (approx 370 km) off Pakistan’s coast.

PNS Hunain conducted the search and rescue operation with high professionalism and expertise. The ship’s team of specialists provided medical aid, assisted in firefighting, carried out damage assessment, and successfully rescued the crew. The evacuated crew were safely transported to Karachi for medical care and repatriation to their respective countries, the Pakistan Navy said in a statement.

“Humanitarian assistance rendered by the Pakistan Navy Ship at extended ranges off Pakistan’s coast reflects Pakistan Navy’s continued resolve and commitment for always being the first responder to maritime crisis situations in respective Area of Responsibility,” it added.
