Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Alam Odho on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the digitisation of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the acquisition of modern equipment to strengthen its operational capacity.
The meeting, held at the Central Police Office, was attended by the Additional IG CTD, DIGs of Headquarters, Crime and Investigation, IT and Finance, as well as SSPs and AIGs of the CTD. Officials said the participants were given a briefing on the progress of digitisation within the department, along with plans for the procurement and effective use of modern equipment.
During the briefing, the additional IG CTD said that the Sindh police’s ‘Red Book’, which contains sensitive information on high-profile criminals and wanted suspects, has been digitised and integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) features.
A multi-agency board has also been constituted to oversee the inclusion and removal of names from the Red Book. The digital database has been linked with various surveillance systems and online applications of the Sindh police to enhance coordination and intelligence-sharing. The DIG CTD further briefed the meeting on the operational benefits of modern equipment, stating that its effective utilisation would improve strategic planning and response capabilities.
IGP Odho emphasised that equipping the CTD with advanced technology was essential to meet evolving security challenges. He directed officials to submit comprehensive proposals to the Sindh government for the early approval of modern equipment.
He also stressed the need to strengthen coordination among all law enforcement agencies for better use of digital platforms and surveillance systems. The police training department was directed to conduct specialised training programmes in collaboration with the IT branch.
