Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a symbol of the nation’s collective wisdom, democratic struggle and federal unity.

He said Constitution Day was a reminder of the resolve to uphold the supremacy of the Constitution and the law, as well as to protect the rights of the people. In his message on the occasion of Constitution Day, which is observed on April 10 every year, the information minister stated that Pakistan Peoples Party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave the nation a unanimous Constitution, which continued to strengthen the democratic foundations of the country.

He added that Bhutto’s political vision, courageous leadership and public service would always be remembered. Memon said that as a result of the efforts of Benazir Bhutto, democratic values were promoted in the country and state institutions strengthened.

He further said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s initiatives, including ensuring provincial autonomy and strengthening Parliament, helped reinforce the federation. He said that despite differences, there was a need for maintaining unity for the protection of the Constitution, strengthening of democracy and development of the country. He added that national unity and solidarity were the true outcome of the sacrifices of the martyrs and the guarantee of a stable Pakistan.
