Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Thursday chaired a meeting to review public complaints and address issues faced by the business community in Karachi.
Officials said the fourth meeting of the committee formed to tackle encroachments and land grabbing was held, during which 21 cases related to illegal occupation and land restitution were reviewed in detail and necessary directives were issued.
The meeting was informed that six out of the 21 cases had already been resolved. Ongoing operations against encroachments and illegal land occupation were also reviewed, while various proposals were discussed to address the concerns of the business community.
Lanjar directed authorities to further accelerate operations against land mafias across the city and ensure effective and indiscriminate action against encroachers at all levels. He instructed the Karachi commissioner to ensure that written complaints are addressed promptly and reviewed without delay.
He further emphasized the need for clear task assignments to eliminate illegal occupation on both public and private land, and called for enhanced coordination among law enforcement agencies.
The home minister stressed that transparency in land restitution, accountability, and institutional coordination must be ensured at all costs. He added that an effective mechanism should be developed for the swift redressal of citizens’ complaints, along with a clear implementation strategy for decisions taken in the meeting.
