QUETTA: Commercial activity at Gwadar Port has gained fresh momentum as a major cargo vessel from Malaysia docked at the port carrying 14,629 metric tons of transshipment cargo, officials said on Sunday.

The cargo ship, MV Riva Glory, arrived at Gwadar Port with a large consignment of various commercial goods, marking another significant development in the port’s growing trade operations.

A spokesperson for Gwadar Port said the vessel transported multiple categories of trade items, which are currently being unloaded as per the scheduled plan. Speaking on the occasion, Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said continuous arrival of cargo ships was clear evidence that Gwadar Port was gradually emerging as an important hub for regional trade.

He stated that due to modern facilities, efficient operations and an improved logistics system, international commercial activities at the port were expanding steadily. The chairman added that Gwadar Port was becoming a key trade corridor not only for Pakistan but also for the entire region, and in the coming years more opportunities for cargo handling and transit trade were expected to develop.

He expressed the commitment of port authorities to provide maximum facilities to investors and trading companies in order to make the Gwadar Port an active and busy commercial port.

Meanwhile, the Gwadar Port Authority spokesperson said efforts were under way to further expand trade operations and strengthen commercial activity at the port.
