LAHORE: Bangladesh’s star pacer Mustafizur Rahman, fondly known as The Fizz, has become the highest wicket-taker among left-arm fast bowlers in T20s.
The record was sealed during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 clash, where Mustafizur claimed 2/37 against Multan Sultans. His spell was pivotal in Lahore Qalandars’ 20-run victory, and it lifted his overall tally to 416 wickets in T20s, surpassing his idol Mohammad Amir.
Mustafizur Rahman: 416 wickets in 325 matches
Mohammad Amir: 414 wickets in 356 matches
Wahab Riaz: 413 wickets
The efficiency of Mustafizur’s record is striking—he reached the milestone in fewer matches compared to Amir, underlining his impact and consistency. Out of his 416 wickets, 158 have come in T20 internationals, making him the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the format. He achieved this landmark in September 2025, overtaking all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
While Shakib still leads overall recognized T20 wickets by a Bangladeshi player with 507 scalps, Mustafizur’s upward trajectory suggests he could challenge that record in the near future. On the global charts, Mustafizur currently sits seventh overall in T20 wickets. The leaderboard is dominated by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who leads with a staggering 703 wickets.
