Islamabad : In a comprehensive operational commanders’ conference held here, Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi conducted a detailed review of the force’s performance and outlined a future strategy for the federal capital’s security.
Accompanied by the senior leadership of the Islamabad Police, including all deputy inspectors general, assistant inspectors general, and senior superintendents of Police, the session focused on evaluating law enforcement efficacy, the integration of advanced technology, and the progression of citizen-centric facilitation projects.
During the proceedings, departmental heads presented individual performance reports for their respective divisions, providing the IGP with a granular overview of the current security landscape.
Addressing the assembly, IGP Rizvi underscored that the core mission of the department remains the dedicated service of the public and the unwavering enforcement of the law. He issued firm directives to ensure that all ongoing initiatives designed to streamline public services are completed within their designated timelines.
The Inspector General took the opportunity to commend the force for its recent milestones, noting a perfect resolution rate for serious crimes and a significant 63 percent reduction in the overall crime rate across the city.
Despite these achievements, he cautioned the command against complacency, asserting that the ultimate goal remains the transformation of Islamabad into one of the safest metropolitan centers globally.
Technological advancement formed a cornerstone of the conference, with IGP Rizvi mandating an increased reliance on artificial intelligence and information technology to preempt criminal activity and ensure the swift prosecution of offenders.
He specifically prioritized the rapid completion of technology-driven projects under the Safe City Islamabad framework to bolster the capital’s surveillance and response capabilities. Furthermore, the Inspector General called for a broader implementation of the "Nasha Ab Nahi" anti-drug campaign and instructed officials to expand the portfolio of online services available to the public to enhance accessibility.
Concluding the session, the IG emphasized the necessity of elevating training standards to refine the professional caliber of the force. He urged commanders to maintain seamless coordination with their subordinates and strictly uphold the principles of departmental accountability.
