KARACHI: JazzWorld and VEON Group leadership called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterating a $1 billion investment commitment over three years to spearhead 5G rollout and expand digital infrastructure across Pakistan, said a statement on Wednesday.
JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim and VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu led the delegation, which discussed Pakistan’s digital transformation, financial inclusion and next-generation connectivity with the prime minister.
Sharif welcomed the investment and acknowledged JazzCash’s role in advancing the government’s cashless economy drive. JazzCash has become the first financial services provider to onboard one million Raast QR merchants and now hosts 24 million of the country’s 48 million Raast IDs.
Ibrahim said Pakistan was entering a new phase of digital growth and that collaboration between government and industry would be key to unlocking its potential. Terzio lu highlighted VEON’s ‘Invest in Pakistan NOW’ initiative, announced earlier this year, which aims to draw international investors into the digital sector.Discussions also covered broadband expansion, digital payments adoption and the use of emerging technologies to drive economic inclusion.
