BANNU: At least six people were killed and more than 30 injured as torrential rains wreaked havoc in Bannu, triggering the collapse of buildings in many areas.
In Kotka Ghulam Qadir, the veranda of Shahbaz Azmatkhel Mosque suddenly collapsed while wedding guests were taking shelter from the rain. Several people were trapped under the debris. Rescue 1122 teams and locals acted quickly to evacuate the injured and transfer them to hospitals. The groom, Khalid, was also severely injured in the collapse. Initial reports indicate that three bodies and over 25 injured were brought to District Headquarters Hospital and Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital.
The second incident occurred in Varishmi Kila Mandan, where the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed, killing three young siblings of the same family and injuring two others. According to rescue officials, the house belonged to Sher Muhammad. All five children were trapped under the rubble; rescue teams managed to save two, who were taken to the hospital, but the remaining three succumbed to their injuries.
The people criticized the hospital management for a lack of emergency medicines, which delayed urgent treatment for the injured. Authorities are warning residents to exercise extreme caution as rains continue in the region.
