ISLAMABAD: To fortify bilateral security ties and bolster investor confidence, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held high-level talks with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Chinese Embassy on Friday, signalling a renewed commitment to the protection of Chinese interests and personnel within Pakistan.

The meeting served as a comprehensive platform for the two officials to deliberate on critical issues of regional stability, counter-terrorism strategies, and enhanced security cooperation. Central to these discussions was formalisation of a proposed police exchange programme designed to modernise law-enforcement coordination between the two nations.

Addressing the economic dimensions of the partnership, both leaders reached a strategic decision to convene a specialised business conference aimed at directly resolving the security challenges encountered by Chinese investors. The initiative is set to roll out in two distinct phases, beginning with intensive engagements with the Chinese business community currently active in the country, followed by strategic dialogues with prospective investors looking to enter the Pakistani market.

During the exchange, Minister Naqvi reaffirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to the safety of foreign nationals. He officially announced the establishment of a dedicated Special Protection Unit in Islamabad, specifically tasked with the security of Chinese residents. In a bid to bridge communication gaps and ensure seamless service delivery, the Minister confirmed that personnel within this unit will undergo rigorous specialized training, which includes proficiency in the Chinese language.

The diplomatic engagement concluded with a shared pledge to deepen the strategic partnership, ensuring that both security frameworks and investment facilitation remain top priorities for the continued growth of Pak-China relations.
