LAHORE:Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the distribution of the Punjab government’s Ramazan Nigehban Package has entered its final phase, with the government achieving significant progress in the initiative.

Azma Bokhari said that the Punjab government had set a target of distributing three million financial assistance cards across various districts of the province, out of which more than 2.802 million cards have already been delivered to citizens. She added that the Punjab government has thus achieved over 95 percent of its target.

She stated that more than 90 percent of citizens have already received financial assistance through the Ramazan cards, while over Rs25.29 million has been provided to beneficiaries so far.

The minister said that on the directions of CM, 422 ‘Maryam Ke Mehman’ Iftar Dastarkhwans have been established across the province to facilitate the public, where millions of people are being served Iftar daily.

Azma Bokhari said that Maryam Nawaz has set an example by establishing large-scale public Iftar arrangements, while the Punjab government has ensured that Ramazan Nigehban cards are delivered to the doorsteps of deserving citizens strictly on merit.

She remarked that those claiming to compete with Maryam Nawaz have failed to show transparency in their own provinces, where even the public remains unaware of who received Ramazan packages and where they were distributed.

Meanwhile, Azma Bokhari strongly reacted to the propaganda being spread on social media regarding CM Maryam Nawaz and her family, stating that certain elements, driven by their bias against Maryam Nawaz, have stooped to the level of constantly fabricating false stories and spreading misinformation.

In her statement, Azma Bokhari said that earlier a false propaganda campaign was launched regarding the alleged foreign travel of the CM, and now fabricated stories are being circulated about her family.

She said that if the same amount of time and energy being spent on creating and spreading lies had been used to think about the welfare of the people, perhaps the public would have taken their claims more seriously.

The minister said that opponents may continue spreading lies, but the CM will keep introducing new initiatives for public welfare and will continue to earn the people’s trust and support through her performance.

She stated that the politics of playing the victim, portraying innocence, or claiming political victimisation will no longer work. The public is now fully aware of the difference between truth and falsehood, and those spreading lies will eventually be exposed.Azma Bokhari added that the politics of lies and propaganda cannot survive for long, as the truth ultimately comes to light.
