MANSEHRA: The compressed natural gas stations experienced a rush of vehicles moving to fill in recent days following a record surge in petroleum product prices in the city and its suburbs.

“The government should withdraw the huge increase which it recently imposed on petroleum products prices after America-Israel launched offensives on Iran,” Mohammad Bashir, a local driver, told reporters on Tuesday.

Transporters and motorists have started converting their vehicles from petrol to compressed natural gas (CNG) following the government’s 20 per cent increase in petroleum product prices, to almost Rs55 per litre.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who, according to locals, had announced to pass on relief to the people affected by the hike in petroleum products, only announced austerity measures for two month.
