RAWALPINDI: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has ordered execution of sentences to the 47 declared accused convicted in the GHQ attack case. The court has instructed the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and other relevant DCs to seize the property of the accused.

The court orders also bound the DCs to submit a report to the court after confiscation. It has also directed the police to arrest the accused. The court had ordered 10 years’ imprisonment, a fine of Rs 500,000 each in the GHQ attack case, and the confiscation of property for 47 previously declared accused, including Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Shahbaz Gul, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Zartaj Gul and Kanwal Shozab.

At another hearing, the Special Anti-Terrorism Court of Rawalpindi accepted an application seeking exemption from appearance filed on behalf of Aleema Khanum, the sister of the PTI founder, in the November 26 PTI protest case. Aleema’s defence lawyer had submitted an application requesting exemption from personal appearance. The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing until March 11.
