WAPDA recognises sporting excellence with cash awards

LAHORE: WAPDA awarded cash prizes to its sportspersons for winning medals in international competitions during 2025 and 2026. The ceremony, organized by the WAPDA Sports Board (WSB) at WAPDA House, was presided over by Chairman WAPDA and Patron-in-Chief WSB Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (Retd), who distributed the awards among the medalists.

Among the recipients were some of Pakistan’s most celebrated athletes including Olympian Arshad Nadeem, honoured for his gold medals at the 26th Asian Athletics Championship and the Islamic Solidarity Games. Yasir Sultan, who secured a silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games. Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal, both silver medalists at the 2nd Asian Squash Championship. Bano Kausar, awarded for her gold medal at the 9th Asian Ju Jitsu Championship. Isra Waseem, recognized for a bronze at the Asian Ju Jitsu Championship and gold at the 3rd South Asian Ju Jitsu Championship. Kainat Arif and Ali Rashid, each winning bronze at the Asian Ju Jitsu Championship and gold at the South Asian Ju Jitsu Championship.

In addition, the WAPDA Cricket Team received cash awards for winning the President Trophy Grade-I 2026.
