LAHORE:Qila Gujjar Singh Police arrested a suspect involved in the theft of cigarettes worth Rs2.4 million.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect identified as Siddique was arrested near Lakshmi Chowk with the help of CCTV cameras after a theft was reported from a warehouse in the Qila Gujjar Singh area. Police said the suspect was a former employee of the warehouse and had secretly made duplicate keys. He allegedly stole cartons of cigarettes from the warehouse at different times.
Kot Lakhpat Police foiled an attempted kidnapping of a three-year old child and arrested the suspect.According to the police spokesperson, the police received a call through the emergency helpline regarding the attempted abduction. A police team arrested the suspect from Asif Town. Police said the child, identified as Usman, was standing at the door of his house when the suspect attempted to abduct him. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect is a drug addict. Meanwhile, Nawab Town and Chuhng Police arrested three suspects for possessing illegal weapons. According to the spokesperson, the suspects identified as Malik Basharat, Samiullah and Asif were arrested.
A suspect died in police custody at Mustafa Abad Police Station under alleged torture, according to reports.
The deceased, identified as Arshad Masih, was in police custody where he died. Police shifted the body to morgue. Police said a case related to liquor was registered against the suspect and that he was a heart patient. They stated that he suddenly fell ill and was taken to Services Hospital where doctors confirmed his death.

The Dolphin team responded to a call received on the emergency helpline and reached the scene near Heloki Post Office. The suspect attempted to flee but was arrested through coordinated action. Police recovered a pistol, bullets and a magazine from the suspect identified as Razzaq. Shahdara Town Police arrested four suspects and foiled an attempt to supply narcotics worth thousands of rupees. Police arrested suspects Naeem and Fayyaz. Police also arrested a local supplier, Tauseef, along with an accomplice.
Wagah Outpost Police arrested two motorcycle thieves during an operation.Police arrested the gang leader Nauman and his accomplice Akbar and recovered three motorcycles, mobile phones, master keys, two pistols and bullets from their possession.
