KARACHI: MG Motor Pakistan said it plans to invest $20 million to expand its vehicle manufacturing facility in Lahore, in a move the company says will introduce new automotive technologies and support the launch of additional models in Pakistan.

The investment, backed by its parent SAIC Motor, will expand production capacity and strengthen the local automotive supply chain while creating new jobs, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Chief Executive Shao JianQiang said the expansion reflects the company’s long-term confidence in Pakistan’s economic prospects and its evolving automotive market. The investment will also help deepen local manufacturing and potentially support future export opportunities, he said.

MG Motor Pakistan has expanded its presence in the country’s new energy vehicle segment since entering the market, introducing global models while investing in local assembly. Executives at SAIC Motor said Pakistan represents a key emerging market in the group’s international growth strategy, citing its young population and rising demand for modern vehicles.
