LAHORE: Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson is under mounting pressure following the team’s elimination from the Super 8 stage of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Reports suggest growing discontent among players, selectors, and administrators over his management style and decision-making.
Several players have reportedly approached PCB officials individually to complain about Hesson’s “planning, authority, and man-management.” Sources indicate that his authoritative nature and tendency to make unilateral decisions unsettled the squad, particularly captain Salman Agha, who was visibly frustrated with Hesson during one World Cup match.
Reports highlight Hesson’s sweeping control over team affairs, which allegedly sidelined the selection committee. Former umpire Aleem Dar resigned from his selector role, citing lack of collaboration.
While the PCB is unlikely to sack Hesson immediately, senior officials are reviewing his conduct and examining the tour report. A formal warning is expected, with the board citing “flawed planning and unilateral decision-making” as factors that negatively impacted the team’s performance. Pakistan’s campaign ended in disappointment after failing to progress beyond the Super 8s. Their defeat to England and a washed-out match against New Zealand left them dependent on other results.
