ISLAMABAD: The timing of the joint sitting of parliament has been rescheduled, which will now be held at 3pm instead of 10:30am on Monday (today), according to the National Assembly Secretariat.
President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the change in timing and he will address the joint session of parliament today.
According to the NA Secretariat spokesperson, strict security arrangements have been put in place in view of the security situation. Entry of unrelated individuals into the Parliament House premises will be completely prohibited, while a ban has also been imposed on guest entry for the occasion.
The parliament members have been requested not to bring any guests with them during the joint sitting. Only journalists holding valid press gallery cards for 2026 issued by the National Assembly and Senate will be allowed to cover the session.
Each media organisation will be permitted only one cameraman, whose details must have already been submitted to the relevant authorities. Cameramen will be restricted to their designated coverage areas and no channel will be allowed to film from unauthorised locations within the Parliament House.
The spokesperson said these measures had been taken in light of the sensitive security environment and urged media representatives to cooperate with the authorities to ensure smooth conduct of the joint sitting.
