ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the medical examination and procedure conducted on former Prime Minister Imran Khan late at night without the presence of his family members and personal physicians.
In a statement, the opposition alliance said that the move reflected a lack of transparency and constituted a clear violation of the fundamental human and legal rights of a former prime minister and national leader. The statement emphasized that any detained individual — particularly a former premier — has the right to be accompanied by family members and trusted personal doctors during medical examinations and treatment to ensure transparency, confidence, and proper medical supervision.
The alliance further clarified that its leadership was neither taken into confidence nor informed in advance about the medical procedure. It stated that none of the central leadership of the movement, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, had been informed or made aware of the development prior to the examination.
“The Tehreek categorically demands that Imran Khan be immediately shifted to Shifa International Hospital, where he should receive treatment in the presence of his personal physicians and family members so that all concerns regarding his health can be properly addressed and complete transparency ensured,” the statement said.
The alliance also demanded an immediate explanation for what it termed “irresponsible behavior,” stressing that legal requirements and fundamental rights must be fully respected before undertaking any such action in the future. It further called for the adoption of a transparent and trustworthy procedure in all medical matters concerning the detained leader.
