‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ programme: Rs20bn released for houses’ construction

LAHORE:Provincial Secretary Housing while chairing a meeting on Monday said that funds amounting to Rs20 billion have been released to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of houses construction under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ programme on the directions of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz.

He said this step reflected the government’s commitment to maintaining momentum in the construction of homes for deserving families and providing them with a roof of their own.He said more than 121,000 families have so far been provided with interest-free loans, while over 26,000 additional families will be able to receive installment payments immediately. At present, more than 43,000 houses were under construction across the province, demonstrating the scale and pace of the programme.

The provincial secretary further stated that more than Rs172 billion has been spent so far on house construction under the programme, while over Rs6 billion has been successfully recovered. In addition, more than 112,000 families have been issued the second installment to complete the construction of their homes. The government has set a target of constructing 500,000 houses over the next five years, which will be achieved in phases, the secretary said.
