Rawalpindi : Kite flying has been completely banned in the city, and strict enforcement is underway as the Rawalpindi Police intensifies its crackdown on suppliers and violators.
Acting on the directives of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, police arrested 16 alleged kite sellers during operations conducted in different parts of the city.
Hundreds of kites and spools of string were recovered from their possession.
According to a police spokesperson, raids were carried out in areas falling under Chaklala, Race Course, Westridge, Waris Khan, Ratta Amral and Ganjmandi police stations.
Separate cases have been registered against the arrested suspects.
Kite flying has been declared a non-bailable offence due to the serious risks it poses to public safety, particularly from hazardous metallic and chemical-coated strings.
He added that strict action will continue to prevent dangerous incidents and to ensure the safety of citizens across Rawalpindi.
