PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing of the bail petition filed by the wife of Qaiser Iqbal, the prime accused in the Kohistan financial scandal and directed that her plea be clubbed with other related bail applications.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Wiqar Ahmad heard the case.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) special prosecutor Hizar Hayat Khan and counsel for the petitioner appeared before the court.

The NAB prosecutor informed the bench that the petitioner, Gul Fareen Jadoon, was the wife of the main accused, Qaiser Iqbal, and that assets worth billions of rupees were allegedly accumulated in her name. He pleaded that heavy financial transactions had also been made through her bank account. Bail petitions of other accused persons in the Kohistan scandal were currently pending before different divisional benches of the court.

The bench directed that all bail petitions related to the Upper Kohistan scandal be placed before a single bench for hearing.
