Islamabad:An inter-collegiate competition of flower arrangement and card making was held at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) I-14/3, here on Monday, providing a vibrant platform for young talent to showcase creativity and artistic skills.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of eleven colleges across the federal capital. The ceremony was graced by renowned educationist Javed Mughal as the chief guest, while the event was presided over by the Principal of IMCG, I-14/3, Professor Shazia Wazir.
A distinguished panel of judges comprising Ali Akbar, Osama Hassan, Nosheen Fakhar, and Naheed Amjad evaluated the performances. In the flower arrangement competition, Momina Zubair from the host college secured the first position. Fatima and Umama from ICG G-10/4 bagged the second position, while Aoun, Muskan, and Mahnoor from ICG, F-7/2 secured the third position.
Myra Waseem and Sheeza Ali from ICG, F-11 Home Economics received the Encouragement Award, while Fiza Ilyas and Hooria Shahid from ICG were given appreciation prizes for their commendable efforts.
In the card making competition, Zainab Bibi initially secured the first position but later withdrew. Consequently, Ayesha from ICG, F-11 Home Economics was awarded the first position. Maria Noor from ICG, F-7/2 secured second position, while Amina Azhar from ICG, F-6/2 stood third. Model College Kuriang Town received the Encouragement Award for its creative participation.
In her welcome address, Professor Shazia Wazir highlighted the challenges faced by IMCG, I-14/3, stating that despite limited resources, the college has made remarkable progress and now caters to around one thousand students. She pointed out that, unlike major colleges in the federal capital, the institution lacks a proper hall and faces a shortage of staff and essential facilities.
She further informed that a formal request has been submitted to the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), and upon approval of the college budget, more admissions will be offered to provide greater educational opportunities to girls in the area.
The event concluded with appreciation for the organizers, judges, and participating students, and a renewed commitment to promoting co-curricular activities as an integral part of students’ holistic development.
