MUZAFFARABAD/ ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has said the launch of the optical fibre project in AJK would usher in a new era of digital connectivity and progress in the region.

In his special video message, he said this multi-billion-rupee project will start shortly after Eid ul Fitr. The project, he added, would not only ensure the provision of high-speed and quality internet but will also promote modern facilities in education, healthcare, e-governance, and business sectors

“This project will directly benefit youth, in particular, besides helping to create employment opportunities in the IT sector,” he remarked.

Rathore noted that since the introduction of internet facilities in AJK, this was the first time the government had approved a project to provide high-speed internet to students and professionals. “The credit for this goes to the public and the government of the Pakistan Peoples Party,” he added.

On the occasion, the AJK PM congratulated Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, Secretary of Information Technology Muhammad Rashid Hanif, and their entire team, saying that their hard work and professional skills made this important project possible.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to providing better facilities to the public through modern technology, and expressed the hope that the project would significantly contribute to AJK’s progress, prosperity, and bright future.
