Rawalpindi : The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has informed its consumers that due to the necessary administrative and technical works of annual cleaning, repair and maintenance of Khanpur Dam, the water supply from Khanpur Dam will be reduced from 19 MGD to 6 MGD for Rawalpindi and from 9.6 MGD to 4 MGD for Islamabad from February 5 to 15.

During this period, there may be a reduction in water supply, partial shortage in different areas of the city. WASA Rawalpindi is making alternative arrangements to deal with this possible situation, under which every possible effort will be made to provide additional water to the citizens in the affected areas through tube wells, water bowsers, however, the cooperation of the public is required in this regard.

MD WASA Rawalpindi has strongly appealed to the citizens to use water very carefully and responsibly during the said period and avoid washing the floors of houses, shops, plazas, vehicles, motorcycles, leaving water taps open and wasting water in lawns and gardens.

Citizens are requested to use the available water only for drinking, cooking and other essential domestic needs so that fair distribution of water can be made possible in all areas.

All the concerned agencies will make every effort to complete the cleaning and maintenance work of Khanpur Dam on time as per the fixed schedule so that water supply from Khanpur Dam can be restored to normal after February 15.

For any complaint, emergency situation or request for water bowser, citizens can contact the relevant field offices of WASA.
