Several suspects involved in street crime held

LAHORE:Police arrested several suspects involved in robbery, gambling, fraud and snatching incidents during separate operations.

Sher Shah Police arrested four members of a notorious robbery gang during intelligence-based operations conducted on the directives of SP Saddar Rana Hussain Tahir. The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Abid, Muhammad Shaban, Ali Owais and Muhammad Imran. Police recovered stolen motorcycles, cash, two 30-bore pistols and dozens of bullets from their possession. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in multiple crime incidents.

Four die in separate incidents

Four people lost their lives in separate traffic accidents and other incidents reported from different parts of the city on Wednesday.

In Kahna, near Ferozepur Road, a 45-yearold man died in a traffic accident. In Data Darbar’s Sheikh Hindi Street area, body of a 55-yearold unidentified man, believed to be a drug addict, was recovered. Another 50-yearold man was found dead on a footpath near Taranum Chowk, while a 40-yearold man was found dead near Saddar Roundabout in North Cantt. Police shifted the bodies to the morgue.

Biker held for making stunts

Ghaziabad Police arrested a motorcyclist for performing stunts on roads, posing a serious threat to public safety. The suspect, identified as Usman, had also uploaded videos of his stunts on social media. Police recovered the motorcycle and registered a case against him.

Fraudster arrested

The Dolphin Squad arrested a fraudster identified as Nadeem in Johar Town for selling artificial jewellery as gold. Police recovered five pairs of fake gold earrings from his possession and handed him over to Johar Town Police.

Separately, Ravi Road Police arrested Abdul Rehman for snatching cash and a purse from a woman three days ago. The suspect was traced and arrested within 72 hours using modern technology and CCTV footage.

Stolen items were also recovered. During investigation, the suspect confessed to his involvement in more than six similar incidents and admitted to stealing a rickshaw as well.Meanwhile, Mozang Police arrested five individuals for gambling on Begum Road. The suspects, identified as Imran, Aamir, Ijaz, Waqas and Ahmed, were caught while betting with Ludo pieces. Police recovered more than Rs17,000 in cash from them and registered a case.
