Emphasising the growing importance of digital skills in the modern world, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said that today’s youth need modern technology more than traditional degrees to succeed.
He was addressing the regional certificate and laptop distribution ceremony of the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme Phase IV at NED University of Engineering and Technology on Thursday.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Siddiqui said that every student of NED University represented the bright future and pride of Pakistan. He reaffirmed that the Government of Pakistan would continue initiatives like the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme to digitally empower the youth “We must provide our youth with resources aligned with their abilities so they can make Pakistan renowned on the global stage,” he said.
He noted that the distribution of laptops was not merely the provision of a device but a significant step toward connecting students with an ocean of knowledge and enabling self-reliance. He added that access to technology had become the key to success in today’s world.
Paying tribute to the students of NED University, the federal minister said the institution had consistently produced outstanding engineers and professionals for the country. He expressed confidence that the fourth phase of the laptop scheme would serve as a milestone in enhancing students’ educational and research capabilities.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the education minister stated that all available resources would be utilised for youth development. He stressed that upgrading educational institutions along modern lines remains a top priority to ensure a secure and stable future for Pakistan.
The ceremony was attended by MQM Pakistan Senator Aamir Chishti, National Assembly Member Javed Hanif, Provincial Assembly Members Adil Askari and Ijazul Haq, MQM central leader Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, and other officials. The Vice Chancellor of NED University, Registrar, faculty members, and a large number of students were also present.
