LAHORE: Probationary officers of the 53rd Common Training Programme (CTP) at the Civil Services Academy (CSA) have formally commenced a three-month Military Attachment with various formations and units of the Pakistan Armed Forces across the country, marking a renewed emphasis on immersive civil-military engagement in the training of future civil servants.
The Military Attachment is a core component of the Common Training Programme and is designed to provide probationary officers with practical exposure to military discipline, leadership ethos, command structures, operational preparedness and inter-institutional coordination. The initiative seeks to promote civil-military harmony, strengthen national cohesion and foster leadership, resilience and informed decision-making among officers entering the country’s civil services.
Over the past five decades, the duration of Military Attachment within the CTP has fluctuated considerably, ranging from as long as three months to as brief as two weeks, shaped by prevailing training philosophies, administrative priorities and national requirements. While shorter attachments served as basic orientation, they were largely introductory in nature and offered limited scope for sustained engagement or deeper institutional understanding.
