LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) Lahore has inaugurated its first-ever Faculty Sports Gala 2026, a landmark initiative aimed at promoting healthy activities among faculty members and strengthening teamwork across the institution. The event was formally opened by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Omer Chaudhry, who conducted the draw ceremony to mark the beginning of the gala.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the Faculty Sports Gala is designed to encourage an active lifestyle, foster collaboration among faculty members, and create a positive and pleasant academic environment. He noted that such initiatives are vital for balancing professional responsibilities with physical and mental well-being. The gala features a diverse range of competitions, including badminton, squash, table tennis, tennis, chess, cricket, and tug of war, bringing together faculty members from different departments in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship. Chairman Sports Board Yasar Sultan highlighted the importance of sports activities in improving both physical and mental health, adding that the university intends to further expand such initiatives in the future to ensure faculty engagement and wellness.
