LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Fahim-ur-Rehman Saigol on Friday expressed strong support for Field Marshal Asim Munir’s statement that his international recognition is, in essence, recognition of Pakistan, saying the remark reflects national dignity, self-respect and the country’s standing in the global community.

Talking with Daily Jang, Mr Saigol said the statement goes beyond a personal observation and represents Pakistan’s sovereignty, protection of national interests and its responsible and constructive role at the international level. He said Field Marshal Asim Munir embodies a dignified, professional and principled military leadership whose global identity highlights Pakistan as a country committed to peace, stability and regional balance.

Mr Saigol said individuals who represent Pakistan at international forums carry the voice of the entire nation, and their balanced, measured and principled positions reflect the collective aspirations and peace-oriented thinking of the Pakistani people. He added that in the current global environment, a country’s identity is closely linked to the quality of its leadership, the strength of its institutions, adherence to constitutional supremacy and the level of national unity.

He said Pakistan is presently facing a range of internal and external challenges, including economic pressures, regional uncertainties and international political challenges. In such circumstances, he added, strong leadership of national institutions and a clear, unified national narrative become critically important. He said Field Marshal Asim Munir’s statement reflects this narrative by reinforcing the idea that safeguarding Pakistan’s honour, dignity and global identity is a shared responsibility of every citizen and institution.

The LCCI president said Pakistan’s international image has a direct and significant impact on its economy, investment climate and trade performance. A positive global perception, he noted, plays a vital role in attracting foreign investment, expanding exports and creating opportunities for international trade and economic partnerships. When the global community views Pakistan as a stable, responsible and peaceful country, he said, it directly strengthens business confidence and supports sustainable economic growth.

Mr Saigol said national unity, institutional stability and mutual respect among state organs are essential to securing Pakistan a strong, credible and dignified position in the world. He stressed that Pakistan’s identity is not defined by any single individual or institution alone, but is a reflection of the collective thinking, conduct and behaviour of the entire nation.

He said Field Marshal Asim Munir’s statement serves as a clear and timely message for every Pakistani that protecting the country’s honour and reputation at the global level is a collective responsibility. When Pakistan’s name is spoken with respect internationally, he added, it not only enhances national pride but also helps set a positive and stable direction for future generations.

Reaffirming the commitment of the business community, Mr Saigol said the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with traders and industrialists, would continue to play its full role in promoting national stability, economic recovery and a positive international image of Pakistan. He said close coordination with national institutions and collective efforts in the broader national interest are essential to guiding Pakistan towards sustained development, prosperity and international respect.
