Samples from six charred bodies recovered from the Gul Plaza have been received at the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory at the University of Karachi for DNA analysis, officials said on Monday.

According to the University of Karachi, 10 reference samples have also been collected from the affected families to facilitate identification of the victims. However, laboratory sources cautioned that the severely burnt condition of the remains could complicate the testing process and make it difficult to determine a clear timeframe for the DNA results.

They added that forensic experts were making all possible efforts to extract viable genetic material despite the poor condition of the samples, while the identification process would proceed in accordance with standard forensic protocols
