ABBOTTABAD: The Galiyat Tahaffuz Movement (GTM), a civil society organization, on Sunday raised concerns over what it termed “systematic environmental destruction” linked to an under-construction luxury hotel in Nathiagali, warning that continued inaction by authorities could irreversibly harm the fragile ecosystem.
Speaking at a press conference, GTM Chairman Sardar Muhammad Sabir presented documents and official notices. He was flanked by Sardar Iftikhar and other members of the movement.
They accused the project management of land encroachment, unauthorized water extraction, sewage contamination, and large-scale deforestation.According to GTM, the Forest Department issued a notice to the company concerned, accusing it of illegally occupying nearly 1.5 kanals of reserved forest land, estimated to be worth Rs3.7 billion.
The notice, dated December 22, 2025, directed the company to vacate the land and demolish unauthorized structures withinseven days, failing which forcible eviction has been threatened.
