Break of 133 by Sattar as Snooker C’ship gets underway

KARACHI: The thrilling matches of the NBP 50th National Snooker Championship 2026 got underway at the Sports Club, Clifton, Karachi. In Wednesday’s match, A. Sattar of Sindh produced an outstanding performance and registered the tournament’s highest break of 133 against Muhammad Ahmad of Punjab, winning the match 4-1 with frame scores of 58-67, 83-27, 133(133)-01, 79-63, 66-60.

Moreover, yesterday’s matches witnessed several century breaks as Ahmer Tariq made 105, Rana Irfan 106, Sohaib Asad 113, Mubashir Raza 111, Aakash Rafique 111, and Hasnain Akhtar 105.

On the second day of the championship, the following results were recorded: Shan Namat (Isb) edged past Kamran Albert (KPK) 4-3 with frame scores of 17-67, 0-76(76), 12-64, 80-0, 60-36, 78-46, 72-13.

Asif Toba (Pjb) overcame Amir Sohail (Kp) 4-2 with frame scores of 22-79, 85-7, 61-54, 86-45, 41-57, 65-21. Ahmer Tariq (Pjb) outclassed Saif Ali Khan (Bal) 4-0 with frame scores of 69-09, 89(89)-0, 122(105)-0, 65-40.

Rana Irfan (Pjb) dominated Asad Khan (Bal) 4-0 with frame scores of 72-24, 69-09, 108(106)-11, 55-21. Sultan Muhammad (Sindh) got the better of Hasnain Siyab (Kp) 4-2 with frame scores of 69-07, 58-05, 17-51, 17-60, 68-08, 72-38.

Ali Raza (Sindh) registered a win over M. Abdullah (Pjb) 4-1 with frame scores of 68-26, 63-74, 75-26, 82-02, 73-39. Ahsan Ramzan (Pjb) accounted for Sheikh M. Mudassir (Isb) 4-1 with frame scores of 82(70)-40, 83(83)-0, 58(52)-68(66), 101(55)-12, 68-23.

Sohaib Asad (Pjb) overpowered Zaib Khan (Bal) 4-2 with frame scores of 31-66, 87(81)-7, 122(113)-01, 41-70, 65-60, 67-25. Mubashir Raza (Pjb) prevailed against Khizar Aziz (Sindh) 4-2 with frame scores of 111(111)-0, 60-67, 58-21, 71-15, 59-72, 85-55(55).

Akash Rafique (Kp) outplayed Ali Zaman Khan (Sindh) 4-1 with frame scores of 89(89)-01, 136-0, 36-59, 60-38, 111(111)-16. Wasim Abbas (Pjb) scraped past Abdul Javed (Isb) 4-3 with frame scores of 10-110(71), 61-23, 68(60)-61, 81(67)-52, 47-55, 43-63, 73(73)-0.

Ali Hamza (Sindh) secured a win over Muhammad Naseem Akhtar (Pjb) 4-2 with frame scores of 76-27, 59-95, 71-2, 54-63, 79-4, 63-28. Hasnain Akhtar (Sindh) blanked Ghulam Abbas (Bal) 4-0 with frame scores of 90(90)-0, 105(105)-0, 84(54)-08, 77-10. Sohail Shehzad (Sindh) held off Kamran Albert (Kp) 4-2 with frame scores of 72-18, 22-56, 55-20, 20-77, 72-68, 67-55.
