Rawalpindi:Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Amir Khattak has directed that special attention be paid to price control in all districts, especially Murree and Rawalpindi. He issued these instructions on Wednesday in a divisional meeting of Price Control Magistrates.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and Murree, Assistant Commissioners (ACs), Price Control Magistrates and officers of the relevant departments. During the meeting, Commissioner Rawalpindi, while taking a detailed review of the daily performance of Price Control Magistrates, said that providing relief to the public from inflation is the top priority of the district administration. In this regard, the price control mechanism will be made more effective. He directed that special attention be paid to price control in all districts, especially Murree and Rawalpindi, so that no step is taken against tourists.
During the checks, 460 violations were reported, and a total fine of Rs445,000 was imposed and 9 buildings were sealed, while 15 people were arrested. In Rawalpindi district, 2,671 raids were conducted, 25 violations, a fine of Rs306,500, 7 buildings were sealed, 7 people were arrested.
In Attock district, 1,006 raids were conducted, 272 violations, a fine of Rs96,500, 4 people were arrested. Similarly, in Jhelum district, 699 raids, 72 violations, Rs10,500 fine, 1 building sealed, 1 arrest were carried out. In Chakwal district, 805 raids, 30 violations, Rs26,500 fine were carried out, while in Murree district, 350 raids, 61 violations, Rs5,000 fine were carried out, and 3 people were arrested.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner has said that 263 out of 266 villages have been notified under the digitization of villages in Rawalpindi division through the Punjab government's PULSE program.
This is a good step of the Punjab government through which computerization of land records is being done. He said this during a meeting on PULSE initiatives on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by DG RDA Kanzi Murtaza, Additional Commissioner Coordination Zenia Humayun, Director Development Syed Nazarat Ali, Additional Deputy Revenue Shehryar Shirazi and other revenue officers, besides Deputy Commissioners Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Murree through video link.
The Commissioner said that the PULSE project is a good step of the Punjab government through which computerization of land records is being done. Apart from this, improving the urban land system, GIS mapping, establishment of modern databases and digitization of rural records are its prominent features.
He directed that in order to further improve the performance of Rawalpindi Division in this project, Deputy Commissioners should set weekly targets and Revenue Officers should do this not by sitting in the partition office but by being present on the spot in the field so that there is no hindrance or delay. He directed ADCRs to coordinate the issues of the villages and ensure immediate resolution.
