ISLAMABAD: Taking a major step concerning the Afghan transit trade, the federal government has decided to allow re-export of all stranded Afghan transit trade cargoes.
The Federal Ministry of Commerce has granted an exemption from paragraph 6(4) of Import Policy Order 2022. In this connection, the Ministry of Commerce has written a letter to FBR.
Government sources said it has been decided to send all stranded Afghan transit cargoes back to Afghanistan. Accordingly, permission has been granted for re-export of Afghan transit trade cargoes.
Re-export will be allowed for cargoes stranded at Karachi Port, Gwadar Port and border crossing points.
According to sources, in its letter, the Ministry of Commerce has requested the FBR to provide option of re-exporting Afghan transit trade cargoes through any seaport.
Pakistan closed Torkham and Chaman border crossing points for commercial activities indefinitely from October 12, 2025 due to the security situation.
