KARACHI: The Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) organised its Annual Awards 2025 ceremony, during which talented athletes, journalists, and sports-related personalities were honored with awards and gold medals in recognition of their outstanding services.
Faizan Lakhani, Arif Memon, Faizan Mustafa Naqi, and Anis-ur-Rehman won Umrah lucky draw. As their alternatives, Suleman Khan, Ubaid Awan, Riaz-ud-Din, and Shahzad Ali Shehzi were chosen through the lucky draw.
The Chief Guest of the event was Sindh Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehr, while Chairman Standing Committee on Sports Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hasan and Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Sindh Syed Munawar Ali Mehser attended as special guests.
Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Khan Mehr said that SJAS has played a commendable role in promoting sports and that he has been well aware of its activities for many years.
During the ceremony, Youth Talent Awards, named after SJAS founding member and first elected president late Rashid Ali Siddiqui, were presented to junior athletes.
SJAS Awards, gold medals, and cash prizes were also presented to athletes, organizers, and sports journalists for outstanding performances in 2025. Rashid Siddiqui Youth Award recipients include Kainat Khalil, 9-year-old junior athlete and bronze medalist at the 35th National Games, Karachi; Hareem Malik, para-athlete and winner of three gold medals at the National Games; and Taimur Waseem Khatri, World Scrabble Champion.
SJAS Athletes’ Award recipients include Haiqa Hassan (National Table Tennis Champion), Aryan Rahim (Lyari Football Academy captain and Singapore Cup winner), Saad Baig (Best Cricketer), Asad Ali Memon (mountaineer who has summited seven of the world’s highest peaks), Ali Ilyas (international cyclist and gold medalist), Natalia Zaman (Padel Tennis player), Faisal Shafee (international marathon runner), and Arif Qadri (donkey-cart racing all-race winner).
