ISLAMABAD: The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Muhammad Afzal Majuka, adjourned the hearing in the controversial tweet case against Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha without taking any action.

During Monday’s hearing, Hadi Ali Chatha appeared in court and said that Iman Mazari has a fever of 104 °F, which prevents her from attending. He added, “I also have a fever, but I have come to court so that it does not appear that I am making excuses.” Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka replied that they should apply for a stay of execution and then the court would consider it.

The court adjourned the hearing pending a written application for a stay of execution on Iman Mazari’s behalf. When the hearing resumed, Hadi Ali Chatha’s advocate filed a written application for a stay of execution for Iman Mazari. The court accepted the request, granted the stay and adjourned the case until Jan 14. The NCIA has registered a case against Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha.
