LAHORE: Former Pakistan Test cricketer and ex-Chief Selector Mohammad Ilyas has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Ilyas was admitted under emergency circumstances to Mid City Hospital, Lahore, where he is currently receiving treatment. According to family sources, he is scheduled to undergo surgery in an effort to address his condition.

In a heartfelt appeal, Ilyas has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to extend assistance and empathy during this difficult time. He has also called upon the nation to pray for his health and a successful recovery. Ilyas’s legacy in Pakistan cricket is significant. As a player, he represented the country at the highest level in Test cricket, and later served as Chief Selector, playing a crucial role in shaping squads and guiding the national team’s future.
