KARACHI: Yango Ride has launched the real-time integration of the 15 police emergency helpline within a ride-hailing app, in partnership with the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA), said a press release on Tuesday.
The new feature allows passengers to call Emergency 15 directly from the Yango app during a ride. Calls are routed to the PSCA Emergency Response Centre under a priority flag, ensuring faster handling in critical situations. The integration removes delays caused by manually sharing locations or vehicle details.
Once a call is initiated, key information is automatically shared with the PSCA. This includes the user’s live location, personal details, pickup and drop-off points, and the partner driver’s identity and vehicle registration. Authorities can respond with full situational awareness, cutting response times significantly.
The system also provides access to allied emergency services, including ambulance dispatch, police assistance and the virtual women police station for female passengers. Miral Sharif, country head at Yango Pakistan, said safety remained central to the company’s operations and that collaboration with law enforcement was vital to building a secure mobility ecosystem.
PSCA officials welcomed the move, noting that verified, real-time data strengthens emergency response. Deputy Inspector General Ahsan Younas, chief executive officer of the PSCA, said that instant access to accurate information enables quicker and more confident action, while helping build public trust in emergency services.
