NANKANA SAHIB: Five alleged police encounters took place in Nankana Sahib on Wednesday, resulting in the killing of eight suspects while 10 others managed to escape.

During five alleged encounters involving the CCD and district police in different areas of Nankana Sahib, eight suspects were killed and 10 fled the scene. These encounters occurred within the jurisdictions of Mandi Faizabad Police Station, Bara Ghar Police Station and Warburton Police Station. Sources said late on Tuesday night, near Nazir Pakka in the area of Mandi Faizabad Police Station, the CCD Police attempted to stop suspicious motorcycle-riding suspects who opened fire on them. The police returned fire, during which Zulfiqar, a resident of Lahore, and Sajid, a resident of Muridke, were killed. Both suspects were wanted in 61 and 52 criminal cases respectively, including robbery. The police claimed that both suspects were killed by firing by their own accomplices, while two of their accomplices escaped.

The second encounter occurred near Colony Canal within the limits of Mandi Faizabad Police Station, where during an exchange of fire, a suspect identified as Faizan Boxer, a resident of Lahore, was killed in firing by his accomplices, while two others managed to flee.

The third alleged encounter took place near the Motorway Bridge in the jurisdiction of Bara Ghar Police Station, where two robbers were killed and three escaped during a clash with the CCD Police. The deceased were identified as Afzal Sain, a resident of Jaranwala, and Zakir, a resident of Kot Rehmat Bachiki. They were wanted in 23 and 18 criminal cases respectively. The police stated that both were also killed due to alleged firing by their own accomplices.

The fourth alleged police encounter occurred near Kanjri Wala Bagh in the jurisdiction of Warburton Police Station, where during a robbery incident, suspects Manzoor alias Jori and Dilawar Abbas were killed in an encounter with the Warburton Police, while two others escaped. According to the police, both suspects were wanted and proclaimed offenders in more than 50 cases involving robberies.
