KARACHI: Magnum, the Netherlands-based maker of frozen desserts and ice cream, has begun operations in Pakistan as an independent company following the global separation of Unilever’s ice cream business, a statement said on Thursday.
The company established Magnum Ice Cream Company Pakistan Limited earlier this year, marking the formal separation from Unilever Pakistan. While the ice cream business has operated in the country for around three decades, the move is intended to give the unit greater operational focus as a standalone entity.
Magnum Pakistan plans to invest in expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening cold-chain infrastructure and developing digital capabilities, according to a company statement. The investments are expected to support higher production levels and create additional employment over time.
The company currently produces millions of litres of ice cream annually and expects output to increase in the coming months as capacity expands. It also plans to broaden its presence in the premium segment of the market.
Kayhan Zenginoglu, country general manager of Magnum Pakistan, said the company would focus on meeting local consumer demand while operating to global standards.
