BATKHELA: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Khan Sherpao on Wednesday said that both the federal and provincial governments had failed to provide relief to the people and urged them to reduce political tensions and focus on controlling insecurity and resolving provincial issues.
Talking to reporters, he said that terrorism, unemployment and inflation were the biggest problems facing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been ruling the province for the past 13 years, but despite this long tenure, its performance remained zero.
He said terrorism had once again resurfaced in the province and demanded the government to tackle this situation.Referring to the Army Public School tragedy, he said that 11 years had passed since the incident, but it did not appear that the rulers had learned any lessons from it.
He stressed that there was a need for a united voice against terrorism, adding that his party wanted the government to overcome this issue. To a question, Sikandar Sherpao said that PTI had been given three opportunities to govern.
He questioned what the ruling party had delivered for the people of the province during its 13 years in power. He said that, unfortunately, the provincial government’s focus was not on public issues but on its own political interests. He also dismissed reports circulating on social media about QWP Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao becoming the governor, saying there was no truth in them. He added that claims by the federal government about improvement in the economic situation were also false, as people had not felt any positive change in their lives.
