The ongoing construction on University Road, Karachi has made daily travel extremely difficult for thousands of people, particularly students. This road connects with five major universities in the megacity. While urban development and transport infrastructure is important, the current condition of the road has created serious problems such as narrowed and blocked lanes, frequent accidents, excessive dust, water accumulation, poor drainage and an uneven and broken road surface. Practical solutions like using cones/barriers to widen lanes, covering loose construction material, temporary drainage and levelling the road surface to must be implemented.
