LAHORE: The Airports Security Force (ASF) has foiled multiple drug smuggling attempts at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, recovering a large quantity of narcotics concealed in clothing and footwear during two separate operations carried out on December 15 and 16, 2025.
According to ASF officials, suspicious baggage belonging to two passengers travelling to Jeddah on Fly Jinnah flight 9P-586 was identified during screeningon December 15. Following a detailed inspection, ASF personnel recovered unstitched clothes soaked in narcotics from one of the bags. The total weight of the drug-contaminated clothing was recorded as 14.908 kilograms. After initial questioning, the passengers, along with the seized material, were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further legal action.
In a separate operation on December 16, ASF officials intercepted a passenger travelling to Doha on a Qatar Airways flight after his shoes were found suspicious. During scanning and manual inspection, ASF personnel recovered 27 capsules of ice (crystal methamphetamine) cleverly concealed inside the footwear. The total weight of the recovered narcotics was 258 grams. Following the recovery, the passenger was shifted to the ASF control room. Using CCTV footage, ASF officials traced and detained an accomplice. Preliminary investigations revealed possible links to an organised drug trafficking network.
