ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan Tuesday suspended the schedule for re-polling on December 18 at 22 polling stations of NA-251, Sherani-cum-Zhob-Cum-Killa Saifullah, following an order of the Supreme Court.

A two-member bench of the apex court had a day earlier suspended the election tribunal’s order of re-polling at these polling stations.

“...Pursuant to the orders passed by the August Supreme Court of Pakistan during the hearing held on 15th December, 2025 in Civil Appeal No. 1151/2025 ‘Khushal Khan Kakar Vs. ECP’ and CA No. 1152/2025 titled ‘Sami Ullah Vs. ECP and others’, the Notification No.F.2(5)/2024-Coord-Vol-XIII(1) dated 4th December, 2025 regarding conduct of re-poll on 22 Polling Stations of NA-251 scheduled to be held on 18.12.2025 is hereby suspended till the final outcome of the case,” the ECP notification reads. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shehzad Ahmad Khan, heard the case.

The court was informed that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) candidate Syed Samiullah had won the general elections from NA-251. The election tribunal had ordered re-polling at 22 polling stations on the grounds that Form-45 was missing from those stations. The tribunal’s decision was challenged before the Supreme Court by Samiullah. The bench stayed re-polling, suspended the election tribunal’s ruling and adjourned further hearing of the case until the winter vacations of the Supreme Court were over.
