PCB BoG approves renovation of National Stadium, upgradation of LCCA ground

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors (BoG) held its 81st meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi via video link, where several important decisions were taken regarding cricket infrastructure, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), domestic cricket and future international events.

One of the key highlights was the formal approval of Phase II of the renovation of the National Cricket Stadium in Karachi, ensuring the iconic venue continues to meet modern standards.

The BoG also approved the upgradation of the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground to the standard of London’s Oval Ground, a move aimed at enhancing domestic cricket facilities.

In addition PCB chief announced plans to build a state-of-the-art stadium in Islamabad, while also expressing his commitment to hosting PSL-11 matches and eventually international fixtures at the Muzaffarabad Stadium, reflecting PCB’s intent to expand cricket’s reach across Pakistan.

A resolution was unanimously passed to commend Naqvi’s role in ensuring the continuation of the recent Sri Lanka men’s team tour of Pakistan, a series that had faced logistical challenges. The meeting was attended by BoG members Ismail Qureshi, Tariq Sarwar, Sajjad Ali Khokhar, Anwar Ghani, Zaheer Abbas and Tanvir Ahmed, along with senior PCB officials including COO Sameer Ahmed, CEO PSL Salman Naseer, Mustafa Ramday, Adnan Malik.
