ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has disclosed details of an interaction with former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and former ISI chief Lt-Gen (R) Faiz Hameed, recalling an exchange that took place during an official briefing.

In an interview, Rana Sanaullah said that during the briefing, General Bajwa jokingly remarked that he had gained weight, adding that he appeared much smarter while in jail. He said that General Bajwa, while addressing Lt-Gen (R) Faiz Hameed, quipped that Rana Sanaullah should be made “smart” again.

Rana Sanaullah said he responded by telling General Bajwa that the cases registered against him had been filed on the latter’s directions, adding that those responsible would ultimately be held accountable by God in this world.

The PMLN leader further claimed that it was not possible for a serving officer to register a case without the consent of the army chief. He asserted that if such an action was taken without the army chief’s approval, the officer concerned would face court martial the very next day.
