LAHORE: Punjab’s athletes delivered a commanding performance at the 35th National Games in Karachi, finishing at the top of the medals table with a total of 126 medals — including 16 gold, 38 silver, and 72 bronze — as the week-long multi-sport event concluded on Saturday.
The Punjab contingent outpaced all other provinces and departments, leaving behind strong competitors such as HEC, PAF, Police, and Railways in the overall standings. The achievement was hailed as a landmark moment for Punjab sports, reflecting both the depth of talent and the effectiveness of recent training and development programs.
Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar congratulated the athletes and officials, praising their “marvelous medal-winning performance” at the Games. He credited the leadership of Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry and the intensive 12-day training camps at Nishtar Park Sports Complex for preparing the athletes to excel.
“The glorious medal-winning performance of Punjab athletes is the result of hard work and professional training of Punjab coaches,” Khokhar said, adding that several medalists were beneficiaries of the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund scholarships, which have supported athletes across multiple disciplines.
