IHC seeks response on plea seeking removal of citizen’s name from blacklist

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought a response from the authorities on a petition seeking the removal of a citizen’s name from the blacklist.The court directed the Assistant Attorney General to decide the request of citizen Uzair Butt within 10 days and submit the implementation report to the Deputy Registrar Judicial. Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the petition of citizen Uzair Butt who was put on the blacklist.

Lawyer Abdul Rehman Babar appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner and said his client and his family are residing in Cambodia. When the citizen came to Pakistan and wanted to return he found his name was put on the blacklist. The lawyer said that they approached all the relevant forums, but there was no response. The court said that it is issuing instructions to the relevant authorities and called for an implementation report.

The court instructed the Assistant Attorney General that a decision should be taken on his request within 10 days and a report submitted to the Deputy Registrar Judicial. It said that in such cases, the instructions we have given so far have been implemented. The court adjourned the hearing of the case for 10 days with instructions.
